We like to talk about everything from home decor to fashion to parenting. The main overall theme though is FUN. If you don't like to laugh, then this probably isn't the place for you.
I’ve been wanting to add some linen covered books to the shelves in our family room, but I didn’t want to spend the big price tag that seems to come with them. They tend to run anywhere from $11 to $20 per book! So, I decided I would just try to make my own, cheaper version and managed to get three covered books for less than $15!
1. Lay open book face down on fabric.
2. Cut fabric, leaving about 2 (or so) inches on each side.
3. Flip book over and use glue gun to place glue along the edges of the front cover and press fabric onto the glue.
4. Now flip to the back of the book and glue the fabric onto the cover. Cut slits on both sides of the book’s spine and tuck into the space between the cover and the pages. Hot glue to secure if needed.
And that, believe it or not, is it! It was kinda like wrapping a present or covering your textbooks in elementary school (remember those days??!). And the beauty of this super easy DIY is that it doesn’t have to be perfect because the books are simply for display. I used an ivory linen fabric because I wanted the books to be neutral, but you could always add a fun pop of color by using a navy or green fabric or whatever color works with your room’s decor theme.
As always, if you decide to try this budget-friendly project, I’d love to see it, so be sure to tag me in your photos!
