We like to talk about everything from home decor to fashion to parenting. The main overall theme though is FUN. If you don't like to laugh, then this probably isn't the place for you.
I don’t actually do a whole lot of decorating for Valentine’s Day (probably because the extent of our celebrating is usually a pizza on the couch after one of our kid’s sporting events — so romantic, right?!) However, this year, I decided to add a couple of love-themed touches to the floating shelves in our kitchen. And the best part? I didn’t spend even one single penny on them!
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Framed print
Chalkboard paint
Painter’s tape
Chalk pen
DIRECTIONS:
To start, turn over the framed print you’ll be using, and tape the edges so that you protect the frame from the paint. Next, apply chalkboard paint to the background of the print. Allow that to dry, and then remove the tape.
Lastly, draw a heart, x’s and o’s, or whatever “L-O-V-E” design you prefer with the chalk marker. (You could also use a stencil if you don’t want to freehand it. I tried doing that, but the chalk pen bled through the stencil, and I ended up just freehanding it.)
You could easily do this project for all the seasons and holidays. I mean, pretty much nothing beats FREE home decor, right??!!
